Hi Everyone, Is it just me or is it impossible to book a wedding being a teacher? I seem to spend all my time in the classroom. If anyone has good quotes, I'd love to hear them.

I am having a completely different experience - sure when I'm at work I can't do anything wedding related but I'm home by 3:30 each day - leaving me more than enough time for phone calls and earlier appointments that other people wouldn't be able to make. Is this your first year teaching? That's the hardest... maybe thats why you can't find time. Good luck!

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
Not only am I a teacher, but I'm a FIRST YEAR teacher teaching 5th grade special ed and let me tell you, it's been HARD!!!
Although I come home exhausted and just want to crawl into bed and go to sleep, I find that thinking about the plans that I have to make actually lifts my spirits!!

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
Hey, Thanks for responding. It's actually my seventh year teaching. I have zero energy by the end of the day. It took me like a month to plan a few appointments for this weekend in Montauk.

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
i got engaged last year and just started teaching. It is hard but you need to just do one thing at a time. I made a lot of calls when i got home tried to get quotes to weed out who i wanted and dint and then made appointments.
I booked hall right away then took my time with everything else.
you just have to take it slow. when breaks come up utilize them!

I'm not a teacher....but I can relate b/c I'm a full time student in a RN program and planning a wedding for Fall 09. It's definitely difficult planning it and booking appts around my school schedule. HECK...it's even hard to get on to this web and chat with you guys!
Just hang in there and what I find best for me is to book vendors, wedding stuff, every other weekend this way I have a weekend 'off'.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
I'm not a teacher, but my good friend is and I remember not even talking to her during the time she was planning her wedding. I don't know if she did this purposely or maybe because she was pressed for time, but she only dealt with places that were within a 15 minute drive of her house.
It's kind of limiting, but she did still have a beautiful wedding.

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
I know how you feel. I planned my wedding during my first few years teaching. It was hard to find time having such a demanding job, but I did the major stuff the summer before and also on weekends. Luckily I got married at the end of July so that helped because a lot of the last minute stuff I could do in June and July when I had more time. It's hard but you'll be fine.. good luck!

Re: Engaged and Still Teaching
lol i'm student teaching and NOT planning a wedding anymore, and i STILL come home exhausted every day... lol (maybe its because i'm working and not getting a cent for it).
when i was still getting married, i had planned to do the rest of it during the little breaks that we had. maybe thats a good idea.
