Engaged Encounters (Pre Cana) DONE!!!!!!

Even though I'm getting married in November 2006, there wasn't a time restriction for when we were to complete one of the premarriage sessions approved by my Church. But we needed to get it completed because my FH is military and is being sent to SAN DIEGO in June 2005.

We went last weekend and it was a long 2.5 days. And even though we've talked about most things before the weekend, it definitely makes you ask each other some interesting questions. And imagine having your FH all to yourself for almost 3 days, with minimal interuptions, no cell phones ringing, no tv (or video games). I never thought my FH would make it through a weekend without his games or the cartoon network! LOL.

But I just wanted to share.. IT'S DONE!

Congrats!! That's great!!! We are also doing the Precana weekend but at the end of July. It's not the engaged encounters one but they probably will cover the same thing!!!

Can you tell us alittle bit about the experience you had... like the different activities you do etc...

It was an interesting experience.

There was a whole lot praying...
But the weekend mostly revolved around personal discussions with my FH.

We would wake up, go to service and go to breakfast. After breakfast we went into a group room with 24 other couples and 2 leading couples. They handed out a notebook/discussion book for the weekend for us to use.

We went through the book, topic by topic. The lead couples would present the topic and offer some personal experiences. Then they separated my FH and I and had us answer the questions posed in the topic. After a set amount of time, my FH would come to my room and we'd discuss our answers. They would knock on the door to let us know our time was up. We'd go back to the group room and they would discuss the next topic and we'd do this process all over again.

And i have to say it was a little weird hearing a old couple talk about sex. It felt like grandma and grandpa telling you how they like it, and how often.... Just a little weird.. Nice to see an older couple still in love, but still weird.

unfortunately we can't do pre cana yet b/c my priest wants us to wait until closer to the wedding

Can I ask what church it was through...I have heard that this type of Pre Cana is the BEST but I am not sure that my church does it this way

That's great! One more thing to check off the list!

This wasn't offered by a church. It's a program offered independent of any on church and is usually supported and endorsed by the diocese of the area. Engaged Encounters

It's offered across the country and lasts for 2.5 days.

Some churches offer similar programs (lasting a day), but this worked out for me. I'm just happy it's done!


FM if anyone has questions...

I am going to do an engaged encounter in January when FI comes to pick me up before i move to Europe - I am dreading it though.
