Engaged yesterday where does the planning start?!

Hello and congrats to all those future brides!
I just got engaged yesterday and I am so excited to start planning this wedding.
I know I have around 150ppl and would like a day in late may 2012, we would like a location with an outdoor area. Do any of you ladies have suggestions? I need help ASAP!!!!!!!!

First of all CONGRATS - now take a breath - you got a lot done already - good job. Now onto RH - do you want suffolk/ nassau? ALso find a budget so you can eliminate some places.
I am partial to Crest Hollow because thats where mine is. Having the ceremony outisde there and the CH. Reception is inside. FM me if you want prices and details :)

I would get a budget together first, then start researching RH. Look online and see if the halls have what your looking for then call them and found out pricing. I'm also partical to my RH which is Coindre Hall. We are having our Ceremony and CH outside. FM me if you would like more details.

Let us know what you are looking to spend pp and we can definitely suggest tons of places.

I say Swan Club if the outside is important to you. Check it out!

Congrats...take some time to enjoy being engaged. You have plenty of time. Especially if there is not a particular date that you need. Definitely figure out your budget because that is the most important thing...

Congrats and welcome!!!! Don't feel super rushed to start planning you have PLENTY of time.. you just got engaged enjoy this moment!

For the RH... do you want it in Nassau or Suffolk.. do you want one wedding at time or does that not matter

and how did he propose!

yay congrats to you! first of all don't stress out! Enjoy a few weeks of just being engaged! Planning wise the first thing i would do is think about your budget. Once you know that i would then start with the venue because thats one of the most important details, and where you spend the bulk of you money.

Congrats and enjoy the planning and take your time with the planning. Def enjoy the planning and Verdis and Swan Club have outdoor locations.

Congratulationsss! Take a breather and enjoy your engagement instead of going nuts right away...

Are you having an engagement party?? If so, focus on that first and then the wedding. If not, book one thing at a time so you dont get confused and overwhelmedd

Thanks to everyone for all of the awesome help and advice!

Well the proposal was great !
Both his family and mine where at a new years eve party where he was the D.J. And 20 minutes after 12:00am (he wantd to do it before midnight but his sister got into a car accident ...she is ok though )
he played the Justin Timberlake song until the end of time, recited a poem hewrote for me and went down on one knee and asked me to marry him i was so stunned I couldn't even answer lol but of course I said yes ... now te planning begins!

I would like to spend $80 - $85 pp. I really want some nice garden views with maybe some nice water views as well. I was looking at woodbury country club but crest hollow looks very nice also... i was thinking of calling around for prices, do venues usually give quotes over the phone? or do we have to go in person?

Most places will not give you prices over the phone. It all depends on what day and whAt month you are looking at. There is a reception guide on here that gives price ranges which is helpful

I got engaged on Xmas Eve so we are only a week apart. FH and I are looking for Spring of 2012 and we are actually looking @ our 1st RH this Friday...Sandcastle.

I can say that we have plenty of time to start the planning but we should definitely enjoy it for a little longer before the chaos starts.
