My friend just got engaged and I never did an announcement, since I was getting married in 6 months. Can anyone either give me a sample or direct me to a site where I can find nice engagement announcements.

I got mine on www.vistaprint.com They are not really formal (just simple cards that say when the wedding is planned for etc...) They were very affordable and came to me in 4 days with envelopes! Good Luck!
