The engagement announcements we're looking to order have the date of the wedding on them, do you think we need to send out STD's too (it obviously wouldn't be till like next september)?

Yea save the money and just do the one.
Never send out engagement announcements.But i am doing std's when its 10-9 months prior to the wedding date. I am even cutting out co-workers and friends for the std's just doing family to save some cash.

Yeah you don't need to send out std's then. Actually STD's are supposed to be if it's on a holiday weekend, if it's a destination wedding or situations like there is another wedding everyone will go to around the same time. So it is not necessary.
I was going to do them at first bc we had picked labor day weekend at first, then we said forget it after we decided not to. But now I am probably gonna have to do it, because there are 4 of us having our wedding one right after the other.
