So, we've been engaged since the end of March. We decided taht we were not sending out formal announcements because everyone who needs to know already knows. BUT in lieu of formal announcements we want to put the announcememnt in the paper. I can't figure out how to do this. I went onto Newsday.com and it looks like all we can put in is a three line annoucement that will look just like a classified ad. it's not really something i want. does anyone know either how to do this so it 'looks' better or if they have a specific section? I'm going to end up calling them later this week, but I was hoping you ladies had some advice first.

We haven't done it, but I know every few weeks Newsday has a 'show and tell' section in the LI life section on Sundays. There are always engagement announcements on there with pictures of the couple.

Yep, and the times just announced a new society announcements heading in the Sunday Styles section. I thought that's so cool, but now I think maybe it's too late. We were engaged 1.5 years ago today! At the time I thought you only do announcements right before the wedding!

Yes, Newsday has 2 different sizes though. You can pay twice as much and get a bigger photo with more (50 I believe) words.

We also posted our announcement in his parents' town paper in Hicksville. We sent in a wallet sized picture & a few lines & it must have been a slow week b/c they blew up our picture to about 5x7 & posted the announcement (for free).
