Engagement Etiquette Help

Our best man just got engaged and found out his FI is pregnant so they are having the wedding this Aug. My question is should we still buy them an engagement present (we had a party and they got us one) if they are not having a party?

Thanks

I think it's your call. If you want to (and have some extra$$) you could get them a GC to Macy's or something. I don't think it's necessary if they're not having a party. Is your FH going to be his best man? You can give him a little extra for the wedding.

Yes my husband will be the best man but we were just planning on giving the same $ amount that they just gave us for our wedding in June.

I didn't have an engagement party bc we just felt it would be too much, with the shower and the wedding - but I really did appreciate the gifts that I got anyway for my engagement, they made me feel special. You shouldn't have to have a party to get an engagement gift - get them a token gift, it doesn't have to be expensive.

I had the situation reversed for me last year- my friend got married in a hurry and had no EP or bridal shower. But when the baby came I got her a gift even before the shower, one at the shower, one when she came home from the hospital. I've been invited to the christing and 1st b-day. Even though I wasn't able to attend I got the baby gifts for both. She came to my EP and got me a small gift. I think it's nice if you want to get them something. But I still think it's up to you.

Yes - no question. I would think its necessary for everyone you know but you should buy a gift for your FH's best friend even if he got you nothing.

My opinion- yes you should. I am sure the bride is already feeling totally overwhelmed and rushed. A nice gift would be so thoughtful. Perhaps a pretty journal or photoalbum, or even a wedding planner book to help her with her super fast planning.

Yes, I think you should give a gift especially since it is the best man. Just because they are not having a party doesnt mean they wouldnt appreciate the thought. I didnt have an engagement party and the people that did think of us with gifts, I so appreciated the thought

I totally think you should, I dont think you should only give gift to those that have engagement parites.

If you are close with him and I assume you guys are since he is the best man, well then there is your answer.

good luck
