Engagement Gift (Sort of Long)

FH and I bought a house almost 2 years ago and we have an apartment in the house that an AWESOME couple rents from us. They are friendly, considerate and quiet. They just got engaged and she told me that their engagement party is the same day as our wedding. I just looked at her registries and she doesn't have alot on there so I don't want to buy from there so that their family and friends have a better choice when buying for them, but I do want to get them something. I was thinking of buying a laundry basket and filling it with a bunch of stuff.... So my question is.. (yes I finally got to the point) is what was everyone favorite little gadget or wishing well gift (that's not tooo personal) that I can put in the basket?

My FI's aunt bought us this beautiful wicker laundry basket and filled it up with the little, nonexpensive items (she thought people would shy away from them).

She put serving spoons, spatulas, dish towels, pot holder (everyone can use that), apron and some other kitchen odds and ends.

You can do a lot with that and I think that's a great idea!!!

I assumend people always gave money for engagement gifts.

I know my FH's favorite gift is our Henkel's pizza cutter! And I love our pig silicone pot holders [from Bed Bath and Beyond] and also our cozy towels!
