I'm the maid of honor (holy cow, I'll be the matron of honor after my wedding ) for one of my closest friends that I've known for over 18 years now. She recently got engaged and is having a small e-party at her future in-laws house to celebrate. I just ordered her a Channa plaque, but wanted to get them something else...
Suggestions??
TIA!

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
Is she planning on registering?
If you want to give a gift how about toasting flutes, which would be used the day of the wedding. Otherwise a cash gift might be helpful if your friends is paying for the wedding.

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
For my friends who have gotten engaged DH and I got them a nice bottle of champagne and flutes to go with it. I put it in a basket with some candles and other small stuff.
I think with the Channa, it would be a great gift!

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
We just rec'd a plaque in the mail yesterday as an engagement gift and I love it.. its not the exact one that I wanted to use at the RH, but I still love it and think its the best gift!
We have been getting some stuff on the registry, and a lot of frames, but honestly we'd either like gifts from registry or the money!!

The toasting fluters are a great idea. Also a cake knife/server set that they can use on the date of their wedding...

i agree! The toasting flutes and/or cake cutter-server are such nice gifts! When FH and I got engaged, the sunshine club at the school I teach at gave us those as an engagement gift and it was so nice!

I'm thinking cash is always the best gift. Especially for an engagement. The Chana plaque is meaningful and thoughtful, so you shouldnt feel bad about giving cash too. She may want to pick out her own cake knife and server and toasting flutes. She may even register for them for her shower.

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
When it comes to gifts I use the motto 'buy them something they love but won't get for themselves'
How about a couples massage, or a cooking or dance class for their wedding song? You can pay for their engagement shoot or maybe she has her eye on a card box that she thinks is too expensive but would absolutely love? (I do, hahaha)
HTH! Good Luck

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
i agree with toasting flutes and champagne; or the cake cutting set.
I do like the idea of something they wont get themselves (like a couples massage) but i think its nice to have a keepsake.

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
I personally would not do toasting flutes or cake cutting set because other people will probably get them these and I wouldnt want the couple getting 20 of the same type of gift lol

Re: Engagement Gift Suggestions
honestly, as much as you want to get a nice sentimental gift, as a bride i feel the best thing at this time is money. It's a tough time and monetary gifts are a HUGE help
