Hi!! My MOH gave me a subscription to Modern Bride Magazine, which I am totally thrilled about! My Mom asked me if there is anything we need/want because lots of people are asking to give us gifts...the only things we can think of are like kitcehn things..but don;t want to give too many out since there will be a shower too...and we feel it is kind of early to register, since the wedding is in April 2004! Any ideas for Engagement gifts? Please let me know....New to this whole thing!

If people are asking what to give you, and you want kitchen things, may be you can do a small registry at Beth Bad and Beyond. I did my registry there, I am very happy with the selection and the service. Yes! Modern Bride is great!

i would say that if you have any thought as to where you are going to have your own services done for the day of - maybe some gift certificates?

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
I don't think it is too early to register. We registered over the holidays b/c we weren't sure when we were going to have our E- party and since I have told people we are having the party I have had a ton of people ask where we are registered and we haven't even sent the invites out yet (e-party is in april)

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
We went and picked out china and our everyday dishes and some little things. Believe me if you don't register you will end up with a large assortment of Lenox vases and ice buckets.

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
We had a similar problem. Mostly friends of FMIL, so we told her that we would let her know when we registered and she passed that along. Everyone waited I would suggest registering soon tough, otherwise you may receive some gifts that you may not enjoy

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
Me too Jenn, Lenox vases, picture frames, cake plates, you name it. My FI hates it, but I told him too bad, we have alot of it so we'll have to live with it! We registered for lots of kitchen stuff too, but the best gift has been $$$$!!!

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
it is definatly never too early to register. we got engaged in july this year and arent getting married until july of 2005. we have already recieved so many items off our registery- china, picture frames, pots, vacuums etc.... its never too early.the only thing we are waiting on is bedding and towels and things like that where you need to basically have an apartment or house picked out already.

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
If you want to avoid getting stuff you don't want but don't want to come right out and ask for money, you can try registering with a travel agent and people can give you money toward your honeymoon. That will help you out in the saving department.

Re: ENGAGEMENT GIFTS?
I registered a month after we got engaged, becasue people were asking what we wanted and we weren't having an E Party. I felt better about registering then telling my aunt i will take a place setting of this pattern etc. Only register for a small amount of things now, you can always add to it later.
