What should I do for a theme? Or centerpieces? How far in advance do I send out invites? Do I give favors? Thanks!!

Re: Engagement Party.....

We had our engagement party at my parents house outside in a tent. For centerpieces, I made my own..I got a helium tank and blew up white & silver balloons, and got the weights to weigh them down on each table..then i put two candles on each table. We gave out chocolates as favors, got the chocolate wrapper printed with our names , the date of the party and a cute picture!
I would say you should send out invites at least a month to two months in advance.

We booked the club room at my FI's co-op building and it was only like $150 for the room and all the tables and chairs. We're getting it catered, and found a place that is about $9 per person. Then we are going to Costco and buying beer, wine and soda and the sheet cake....I have no clue what to do for favors. I HATE the whole favor idea...what a pain in the ARSE!

We had our Eparty at the Grand Plaza in Staten Island. Our 'theme' was the rose from Beauty and the Beast. The table linens were red and white, there were balloon centerpieces of red and white with a rose balloon on top they were tied down by ceramic rose weights. There was a fresh rose on each table for each lady, chocolate red rose lollipops and the favor was a candle,

Balloons

The rose stuff (pay no attention to the best man stuffing his face)
