engagement party

Ok..so we originally said we were not going to have one, would do the bar/nightclub thing just to get people together..but now I WANT ONE...lol...FH says that we can't afford it, at the rate we are going, there won;t be a wedding either..j/k. So I need IDEAS for some places on the island( we are in Lindenhurst as is a LOT of family, or close by at least) so anywhere from say Islip-deerpark,brentwood,bayshore,lassapequa..etc...Any one have prices per person for about 40-50 people? I figure if I have any idea of price, can approach FH with it and say ..'see we can do it' Remember...we need cheap! ( we have drinking friends who's bar tab may add lost to the price..lol) Thanks for the help!!!!

Try the VFW on N. Delaware ave or Knights of Columbus on Herbert! (I think Jenny2Penny had her eparty at the KFC.
They should be inexpensive.
Or what about waiting until like May and having a party in your back yard, you can get it catered and still have a nice affair!

We didnt have an eparty(we didnt feel it was necessary for us) but if I did, it probably would have been a back yard thing because I think those can be alot of fun and there is no timelimit!

Thanks for the idea, The backyard thing is out because we live in an apartment complex( no backyard) and our parents rent too, and I feel dumb asking a friend to 'throw ' us a party ya know? We really don't think that we want a big party. I just wanted to get everyone together to celebrate the engagement...will keep thinking , thanks though, will check out the vfw..it's right down the block actually!
