Do you think it would be in poor taste to put a large box wrapped with a bow and slit on top(for envelopes) on the gift table at the engagement party? We are having over 100 people...any other ideas?

Re: Engagement Party ????
We just collected them as people gave them to us and we put them in a bag that was in our nephews carriage

I used the bird cage for my e-party & will use it again at wedding
At least to get two uses out of it

Re: Engagement Party ????
yes and no an eparty is basically announcing your upcoming wedding - guests are not expected to bring gifts but they do (ours shopped from our registry's) others came with an assortment of things but we did not expect gifts or money therefore putting out a box for money i'm not to partial to that in short its tacky like your begging or something

Just collect the envelopes personally- the box on the gift table is a bad idea (IMO) for a couple of reasons- If you are going to do a box- keep it behind you so that you can keep them in there yourself.

We are doing this for our wedding, but keeping it behind us as a place for us to put the gifts once they have been given-
I feel this is an issue of 'storage' versus 'collection'- If this is displayed in a 'collection' manner, people may easily take offense . . .

Re: Engagement Party ????
I was hesitant.....I agree it can be a bit offensive to some. I just thought it would be convenient and one person wouldn't be responsible and nothing would be lost. Thanks for your input!
