I am getting married July 2006. I am planning on having an engagement party this summer. Where is everyone having their parties? at a house? at a restaurant? is anyone having it at their own house? My fh family lives upstate near me, and my parents are on long island. Should we have 2 seperate parties or make my fh family travel? advice please!

I think it depends on what feel your going for , if its something casual then your own home/backyard might work, or you can opt for a nice restaurant/hall.. We wanted something formal so we had ours at a hall (Huntington Townhouse).
IMO I think you should have your FH's family travel and do the e-party all together.

If we have one, it's going to be really casual in our backyard. We will probably barbecue and get a hero.
