I'm really confused on the whole engagement party thing....is it suppost to be fancy? At a catering hall?....a tiny party?....I would like to know what some of you have done I'm looking to have one in the beginning of the summer and I would really love some opinions on some good ideas! I think it is really up to you, what do you want? I had mine at my sisters house with about 40 people and we had a blast....

We are having two --- one for friends and the other is going to hosted by FMIL. Ours will be this Sat., at our apt in Brooklyn. We are going to have wine/beer/liquors and appetizer food (homemade white bean dip, guacamole, salsa, mini quishes, bruschetta, tapenade, and cupcakes!) and are expecting 30+ ppl.
As for the one my FMIL is hosting, I think she also doing it at the house, but we are not taking part in the preparation.
I think anything goes. I know some people have their e-party at catering halls or restaurants and I think that is nice too. But, we wanted to save our $$ for the wedding

It really depends on what you and FH want. We had ours at a catering hall with just over 100 people. But I know people who had a bbq to celebrate and had a great time. Again it's really up to you!

We are having one - 50 to 60 people, mostly family and friends in the wedding party. We booked a nice Italian Family style restaurant on the Beach. I can't wait! It's April 8th, I'm getting so excited!

we had just family and close friends in my parents backyard. but we had it fully catered with tents and waiters and full buffet so it wasn't too informal. about 60 people were there and we had an awesome time. it all depends on how 'big' you and your FH want to make the party.

we're having a casual party in FIl's back yard, we're looking to hire a catering company to bbq, we're going to serve frozen drinks, Wine , beer... very low key
