I got engaged on 7/1/06 and my e-party is in 2 weeks at a restaurant called Mask in Glen Cove.
I got engaged 7/2/06 and we already had our e-party (yeah, we're moving pretty swiftly with things, our wedding is 3/25/07). Our e-party was on 8/26/06. It was great! We live in Nassau but had the party in his parent's backyard in Suffolk. We rented a tent, tables and chairs and hired a chef and catering company to do all the preparations of the food, etc. We bought and cooked all our own food. They just prepared it and brought their own professional grill to cook the bbq items. However, I would advise that if you're going to get it catered, have them prepare and cook the food as well as that was the most exhausting part for both of us. My FH is wonderful at cooking and preparing for things, so he was very good about doing everything with me. However, it was alot of work for 2 people at the end of the day. We did save money on the catering though!! All I can say is have fun with it!!
we were in engaged in december of 05 and had out e-party in june of 06. our wedding is august 07. we had a backayard bbq/beach party theme with catered food. we started the party at 2, and we partied until about midnight. thats the good thing about having it at a house, it can go on forever!! theres pics in my album. HTH!!
I got engaged 9/1/06, I'm not having mine till 3/24/07.....There is too much going on now, and I want to wait till after the holidays. My FSIL is also giving birth at the end of Jan. or beginning of Feb. I want to wait till after the baby is born. I live in suffolk and am having it in the newly renovated Blue Lagoon on a Sat Night. Good luck finding a place... there are so many good placed is Nassau.

we were engaged on July 4, 2005 and had the e party on Sept 10, 2005.
We got engaged August 22 in San Diego, we came home September 3, and had the e party on Sept 6...we sent out invites while we were still in san diego, it was thrown together really quickly because fh was scheduled to have surgery on the 8th, and was out of comission for 12 weeks after. We had it on the beach in hampton bays, in my grandmothers backyard.
I had an e-party in August and I was engaged in December. We just had it at my house. It was really nice, if I do say so myself!
We got engaged 8/28/05 and had our e-party 10/22/05 at Mandolino Grill. We planned it pretty quickly because FHs brother was going to Sweden for practically all of November and my parents personally did not want to have it in the wintery months. I don't think there is a set time of when you have to have it by. We had ours from 1-5 since we had the entire restaurant and we ended up meeting friends to go out later on. We had a blast! If people want to go out after the party, you can just invite them back to the house and go out later on!
We got engaged in June of '05 and had our 100 person night time e party in September of '05
We were engaged 04/29/06 and had our e-party 07/09/06. We had an afternoon party as well in Brooklyn.
