when going to a engagement party do you give a gift or money? And if you give money how much??? I have never been to an engagement party before.......

i have always thought to give money, my family has always given just money. but i'm realizing more and more people are giving gifts.
If it were me.. I would give money. Usually I give $100-$125 for 2 people. at our eparty we got mainly money and about 5 gifts. But we did not register. maybe this will help, from friends we recieved $75-100 for 2 single cousins 50-75 closer realitves aunts/uncles etc.. gave more.
If you are worried about money, then just get a gift. I dont think there is a right or wrong.

We got $ (average of $50 pp) and gifts from our registry. I always prefer to give $ b/c I know it comes in handy when you are planning a wedding.

I didn't spend that much for the eparty I went to recently. It was a lowkey party (not catered, no alochol, etc). Plus I knew I would spend a ton for the shower.
I bought gifts from the registry, it looked like almost everyone did.
Do you know if the bride and groom will be footing all or most of the bill for the wedding? If so, money would probably be better. In my case, I knew the parents were taking care of everything so I thought a gift was better. I will give cash at the wedding.

We got money and give money! It helps the couple pay for their wedding, honeymoon and save for a house....more practical! Definitely give at least $75 a person.

personally I would give $$.. at our e-party we got an average of
$75- $100 per person from friends..
$100-150 per person for family and sometimes more..
totally depends on what you can afford and what you feel comfortable giving.
