engagement party?

engagement party?

FH and I are recently engaged. We are not planning on having the wedding till fall 2004. Are we supposed to have an engagement party now, near when we are engaged, or close to the 1 year mark for the wedding?

Also, who comes to this? And does anyone know any good places to have a brunch???

Also, do we typically host this? or is it something on of our parents will offer to do?

Re: engagement party?

Im just planning my engagement party now. We just got the invitations. Our party is in January and our wedding day is in November.

We are holding it at my sisters house, and my parents are giving it.

Hope that helps

We're getting married in May 2004 and had our engagement party on October 5, 2002. I don't think there are any set rules on when to have an e-party.

We are getting married in 2004 and are having our engagement party in February 2003 at the Chateau Briand. I think that these days anything goes and it depends on what you want.

We are getting married in 3/2004 and are having the engagement party in April. We are holding it at my parents house so I guess they are hosting it We will be inviting family, which is about 40 people, our close friends, and our parents close friends.

Our e-party is in Nov. and our wedding is May 2004. We wanted to have it while it was still fresh and exciting in everyones mind (before we saw the family at the holidays) and we didn't want to have it at the one year mark b.c we felt it was too close to the wedding and bridal shower, other pre-wedding stuff.

We had our engagement party January 20, 2002 (wedding date is March 8, 2003) at B.K. Sweeny's in Garden City (when they used to have a separate room for parties.

We invited our bridal party + thier dates, parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles and god parents. I think it ended up being 50 people or so...

It was a great time. I just wanted the bridal party to get to know each other...
