If she didn't registered, you can give 50 - 100...For our engagement party, we registered wine - so lots of them. No need to go crazy coz' I'm sure you're giving them a good gift for their wedding.

Re: engagement party

you and fh are going i would say 100 is appropriate...if it was in a Hall or resurant i would say at least 150...

but regardless of if it is in a house or a rh it still cost money to throw with catering cooking and all the supplies so what ever you feel comfortable giving them is appropriate...

if you want to buy them something or put together a basket for them you can do that too but by the time you buy stuff and put it together it would probably come out to more then 100 or just about that price anyway

so whatever you feel comfortable with go with it...

I'm gonna go with $100 as well. We had our engagement party at my FMIL's house, and the average amount we received from anyone, be it a couple or family or single, was $100-$150. Some people also bought us stuff off of our registry which was nice. Lots of china and crystal too. If you are worried about the dollar amount you put in the card, I would suggest buying a nice piece of crystal, or something off of their registry if they have one. We also received our toasting flutes and cake cutting set which I think is a nice touch from a family member.

Just because it's at the house doesn't mean it won't cost a lot of money. Sometimes they can cost just as much as in a restaurant or catering hall.
