Engagement Party

Well my engagement Party came and went. I am so sad that it is over but very relieved. I put so much work into the day me and my mother made everything from the center pieces to the seating charts, to the dessert and candly bar to the appetizers to the recipe in a jar favors. I never thought I would get it all done but we did. No sleep and no time to eat for about 2 weeks. Everything seemed to go off very well and I think everyone had a great time. The only thing is (and let me know if anyone else had this feeling too at theres) I felt very overwhelmed the whole night. I felt as though anytime someone had something to complain about it was to me, I did not get to eat or dance, I tried to make sure I kept going around to all the tables to make sure everyone was okay that by the end of the night I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. DO not get me wrong I had a great great time. However, did anyone else feel that way or am I just crazy...:) I was told that when it comes to your wedding you have to make it just about the 2 of you and not listen to anyone else.

WEll like I said the party was absolutely amazing and I would go through it all again to have it again. However, now i get to sleep, lol...

it is overwhelming, i didnt have people complain to me though they shouldn't have done that honestly and should've let you enjoy yourself, you dont want to complain to the person who the party is for...but it was overwhelming bc i had to go around and talk to everybody and anytime i started doing one thing i was getting pulled in another direction, i barely ate anything

First, CONGRATS!!! on having your engagement party. Now, I think what you were told...'you have to make it about the 2 of you' is absolutely right! At my engagement party, I spent most of the time saying hi and bye to people that I didn't fully get to enjoy it. You just described how much work and effort you put into planning it.....you should be able to enjoy it....so try to take a step back, take a deep breath, look around, and spend some time reveling in the fact that these people came out to celebrate you and your FH. And if people have complaints....tell em to put it in a complaint box cause you don't wanna hear it right now

When it comes time for your wedding day, make sure you tell everyone to direct any questions/complaints/concerns to the bridal attendant or banquet manager...that you don't want to be told anything and if they tell you that you will turn a deaf ear. Let the banquet mgr take care of it, that is what they are there for.

yeah ive never been to a wedding and complained about anything to the bride and groom, if asked the answer should be everything is great...they put so much work into 1 day and the last thing they should hear is complaints...i think their happiness means more than my dry piece of chicken lol

Oh my goodness, i thought that i was the only one who was overwhelmed during my eparty!

I also felt like i needed to go to everyone, make sure everything was ok, got complaints, etc.

It is good that we got to 'practice' this before the wedding b/c i definitely do NOT want that to happen then!
