Engagement party
Shouldn't I wait until after the engagement party to register? I thought that usually you get money for your engagement party and gifts for your bridal shower. Please clarify if you can. Thanks

I would register. A lot of people want to get gifts instead of cash and if you don't register you will end up with a bunch of frames that you dont want.
I didnt register before....we had a lot going on and we didnt need that much. It just was not at the top of my list when the party got close. Some people gave me b.s. about it and lectured me on how I was going to get dumb gifts. I actually got mostly money or gift cards. The other people that got me gifts got me things that I needed or fun stuff like cocktail items and stuff. When people asked I just explained there wasn't a lot I needed right now.
I didn't register. My e-party was a bbq so my guests helped me supply snacks and drinks.
I think it's polite to register for a few items in a varying range of prices. I only had maybe 3-4 people buy things off the registry out of maybe 8 gifts, but I still think it's nice to give people an option to give you something you want, that may be a higher value (like due to coupons or whatever) than they may be able to give in cash.
I wasn't going to register but my dad insisted that the family would want to bring a gift and that it is the proper thing to do. I ended up registering for items I know I need for the wedding like Mikasa toasting flutes and cake knife and server. I also registered for a ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket. I even registered for some very expensive Lenox picture frames. When you register at Macys you get 2 free bridal magazines which is cool. Bedbathand beyond didn't really give me anything that interesting but if it makes a few people happy why not do it.
