Re: engagement party

i have mine sunday...i didn't register for it because we were wishing for cash, plus my wedding is 2013 and i didnt want to register for things that would potentially be discontinued or out of date by the time the bridal shower rolls around...

I had mine last November. We got a lot of money for ours since we didn't register. If I could go back I would of registered. Engagement parties are so fun!!

I think etiquette states that you are not supposed to register for an engagement party. It is actually optional for people to give gifts. However, usually people do give cash. It's not like a shower where you are supposed to include information about what the bride and groom would like.

Just saying...

Where are you having the party?

We registered for a few gifts bc my mother told me some of my family wanted to give me gifts and not money. We mostly got money which is going to really help with everything! Have fun!!!

This is true, some family members will ask if you are registered yet. It shouldn't be like an announcement thing though in the invitation.

Cash is king anyway... LOL

we had a laid back engagement party in my parents back yard..it was a great time..everyone just hanging out, drinking, and celebrating our engagement..we wrote on our invite a little poem saying not to bring gifts...i didnt want anyone to feel obligated...some people gave us money anyway..and i got some baskets..have a great time enjoy!

Hi girls...I am having mine tomorrow. I did not register either. Hoping I get lots of cash :) Good luck with yours too!!

Re: engagement party

I think it really depends on the person/family if you want to register or not. There is so RULE saying that you can't. Most people just give money though.

Well as I wrote, it's what the 'etiquette rules' say. Just like everyone got all excited when I suggested making RSVP 3 weeks instead of 4. Yikes! There are etiquette rules but no one says you have to follow them precisely.

My engagement party is next month and I am not registering before because my weddign is two years away and my fh and i arent moving into together until after marriage so I wouldnt have a place to put all the stuff they would get, plus I know I will get everything for my bridal shower. Just take it easy and enjoy the joys of being engaged with all the people you love

I didn't register for anything. We got mostly cash and some people ended up getting us gifts that we could use for the wedding(champagne flutes and a 'everything before the i do' picture album.
