Our engagement party is coming up (Sept.24!) And I'm so excited but feel like I should really get my butt moving with decorations and finalizing plans - I've been focusing so much on the planning of the wedding that the engagement party went on the back burner LOL. My mom and future in-laws are throwing the party but I'm helping with the planning. With our schedules, it's so hard for all of us to get together at once, so I might have to do some shopping on my own for some things.
Any suggestions or unique ideas for decorations?? Or any places that have nice things for engagement party? BTW, it's a backyard party. I really want the backyard to look great and to also have personal touches.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

Re: Engagement Party Advice
I had a bbq in the park and what I did for decor was have table clothes, balloons, plates, cups, and tableware in my wedding colors. At the center of each table I had bowls of chips. Kept it simple and it looked really nice.

YAY we are engagement party twins. I'm having my enganment party the same day. My party is also in the backyard. I have not bought anything for it yet. Not really sure what I'm waiting for. All I did was order the food. I still need to buy decorations and all the other food and supplies.

Oh Yes!! Totally forgot about that store til just now! And what's even better is FH's parents live right near the one in deer park outlets so it'll be easy to coordinate a trip there!
@Ally - Yay! Let's hope for great weather that day! I guess it's not a big deal we haven't bought anything yet. I was thinking the same thing...what am I waiting for? lol Good luck on your planning!

We gave out our STDs at our eparty. We had them at a table when you walked in. (pics in album)
It was less that we had to mail out.

Re: Engagement Party Advice
On etsy i bought those tissue paper poms....they were likle 8 dollars for 4. or maybe more depending on how big. They are precut so you just fluff them...the ones prefluffed are more $. They looked cool and youc an get them made in any colors you want. I also made my own banner....you can tell I was off for the summer and had free time. I wanted happy engagement in my colors too so i cut out squares and glued my letters onto them and glued them to a ribbon. It looked nice when I hung it from my deck and matched my colors.

Re: Engagement Party Advice
Personalized napkins are a nice touch...you can put either the date of the e-party, or your wedding date.
I know someone in Plainview who would be able to do them in such a short time...FM me if you are interested.

We wanted to do STD's too but didn't get them in on time. We ended up having personalized napkins with the wedding date on it and little bags of hersey kisses that had stickers on the bottoms saying our date and names. Everyone thought it was a cute idea. Also we had simple centerpieces on the tables. A fishbowl with a rose on top of these water ball things we got from dollar tree!

Re: Engagement Party Advice
I called my florist and asked them to make $10-15 centerpieces for the engagement party. They came out beautiful and I got a little preview!
