engagement party - food

engagement party - food

My MIL is starting to freak out about the engagement party that she wants to have two separate ones now so it is more manageable. All the invites are already made and ready to go out so we need to make a decision soon. everybody is already aware of this date and i think people will be hurt if they are not at the 'real one' and some people would go to both of them in order for everyone to see each other. its weird.

we are having it in the backyard which is big enough for 100 people. i think she is worried about food.

how much food do we need?

she and her friend do not work summers so they plan on cooking ahead of time different types of trays and also ordering some. maybe 10 big trays of food plus appetizers and chips/veggie platters

my mom is buying the drinks and the cake

i wanted to make chocolate covered strawberries and lollipops

should we also get cold cuts and heros?

any advice?

how much u think all this food will cost? should we just caterer it and where from?

we have two bathrooms in the house- should we really get one of those outside 'fancy' porta pottys? i hate that idea.

JMO:

i would axe the idea of a port-a-potty because they are just soooo ick to me

for 100 ppl, I would do
4 Heros (2 AM/2 ITL)
2-3 trays of salad
2 Macaroni salad
2 Potato salad
2 sausage & Pepper Trays (so easy to make FM if you need a recipe)
Order:
2 Eggplant Rollatini Trays
2 Chicken Finger Trays
Rolls for 'sammys' (sorry for the RR reference)
A big Antipasta Tray (cold)
Ziti (3 Trays)

It really depends on what kind of food your guests like (are you italian? obviously i am lol) you can really do anything--id rather over order a little then have people going to BK on the way home, ya know?? FM for more info.
