Engagement Party Gift Question

FH and I were invited to an engagement party for our 2 friends (bride's parents are throwing it at their house - probably in the backyard). I haven't a clue what to give them as a gift. I would love to have bought them something off their registry but they don't have one, so I'm thinking to just do a cash gift but I don't know how much is enough or too little.

What do you girls think is a good gift? $75-$100? Or should I wing it and buy some sort of tangible gift/if so what?

close enough. We don't hang out with them as much as we used to but we are still very friendly when we see them.

I'm thinking $100 too.

$100 would be good... or you can do less and a gift... i got the waterford crystal ring holder for my engagement party which i thought was a nice gift

ETA: they also have Lenox crystal ones that are cheaper... and you can get them at Macy's and/or BBB and use the 20% off

hmm i always like to give a gift at the e-party...do they like wine? Someone got me a personalized wine bag that holds two btls of wine (they had it stocked when they gave it to us). I know it sounds a little odd, but I can't tell you how much I have used it! Plus it was nice to indulge with the FH in some really good wine....

if you go with cash I think $100 is a generous gift.

if you prefer to give a gift, you could do something small like a book about weddings or a wedding planner, along with $$$.

we received roughly around $50 pp.. some people bought some things off our registry, and one of our friends gave us a $30 gift card to white castle...

the wine thing doesn't sound like a bad idea... maybe we'll give a smaller $$ gift and bring them a bottle of wine as well (I know she is a big wine drinker)

Ok so I think I am starting to like the idea of the bottle of wine and $50.

So now girls, suggest some wines! LOL I think she is partial to white wines but if you have suggestions for both let me know and I will do some detective work about whether she prefers red or white.
