If you are doing an engagement party?? How are you cutting down your list/cutting costs?
Back story: We are doing a backyard party in July and the lowest I could get it down to was 116! My backyard is not big enough to seat them. I suggested no kids except bridal party and FH shot me down. Then I suggested a cocktail party (lower food costs and less need to be seated at once)...FH shot me down. IDK what to do because the people are all cousins and friends we hang out with often so we can't cut them.
I'm not as worried about the food because we can make some trays ourselves....More worried about booze and actually chair space.

We're doing a cocktail reception at a country club. We only invited immediate family, bridal party and close friends and we still have 150ppl on the list

We were having the same problem. Were having it at a place and decide to do family and friends in the bridal party. Then after were going out with all our other friends.

for the eparty i did bridal party + fam (most of my bp is fam) so it was just about 20 people :)

We have the same problem. FH side of the family is BIG!! We cut it down to BP, aunts, uncles and 1st cousins only. That really helped cut down the guest list. I'm sure people will be upset, but we have to keep the cost down. We are having about 70 people at FH's aunts house.

i kept the engagement party to immediate family and close friends. since my wedding is only a 75 min, my eparty is around 30 ish

we didn't invite anyone from out of town, well anyone not from LI.
We had about 70 people at ours I think.
FH has a big fam too. I think we left out coworkers too!

Our e-party was tonight and GREAT. It was more of a dinner, but everyone was up and mingling. My wedding is looking to be about 400 people and i just KNEW i couldnt make my parents pay for a huge e-party (were paying for the wedding and my mom said they would pay for the e-party). What we did was immediate family and bridal party, THATS IT, came out to 44 people. If people were offended, too bad, but you cant really say anything when its only family and BP.

I know how you feel....we are inviting immediate family, aunts/uncles and cousins and bridal party only (no friends or family beyond that) and the list is like 80!!! yikes!!
We are planning a backyard engagement party too, so we are also stumped on what to do!
