Engagement Party Help

So FH and I want to have an engagement party at FMIL's house in April for about 40 people. We want to keep the cost low at about 500 bucks for the whole thing. Anybody have any recommendations on where to get food from? It's going to be casual. We live in Queens and FMIL lives in Nassau.

you can always have it catered from a bagel place or a supermarket.

I used Bagel Biz in Melville in the past. They have gourmet heros and they present them really nice in baskets. I cater a luncheon for about 50 people and it is less than $500 normally.
