Engagement Party help

I just booked my October 19th 2012 wedding at WCC!! So much to do and so little time. I want an engagement party, I need to keep it small.

I plan to have this party on April 7th. We just announced our engagement. What is your reaction? Too close to the wedding?

Is it okay to invite just the families and bridal party?

It's totally fine to just invite the families & the bridal party, definitely! It'd be a good chance for everyone to officially meet & mingle before the wedding! And congrats on booking your RH!!

I feel like that who is suppose to be invited to the engagement party. We didnt invite to many people out of our family/bridal party circle.

We were engaged in March and had our engagement party in May. We invited only the bridal party and close family. I called it a family dinner on the invitation. April 7th is right in the middle of Easter weekend, I'm not sure if your guests will be away but I guess you would know. We ended up moving ours from Memorial day weekend to the weekend before for that reason.

I don't think that it is too close to the wedding if you keep it to family and bridal party only. Those people are the closest to you and your FH. They will want to celebrate your happiness, no matter the date!

I don't think thats too close and it will be a chance for family and friends to get to know each other and celebrate you! I did a friend party right after I got engaged. I plan to have an engagement/house warming party in the spring so it can be outside and inside. Even though right now its so mild out these days! For the family. My family probably won't come because no one is local. But it will be a chance for my parents and his family to get together. I just booked two weeks ago for sept 1st! We are in the same boat. So much to do and so little time! Good luck and let me know if I can help!

I dont think it is to close at all. The timing is fine. We got engaged in May and had our party in July.
