I know you shouldn't invite anyone to the engagement party that you don't plan to invite to the wedding, but who from the wedding guest list do you invite to the engagement party? We'd like to keep it relatively small so who should we include?

Re: Engagement Party Invites
we had a BBQ too.
we invited all family, and close friends. and it was still about 150 invited! i have a huge huge family. we did invite kids to our e-party, because it was in a back yard on a beach so we felt we couldnt leave them out- but no kids are invited to the wedding.

I would just invite immediate family and the BP (if you already picked the BP).

Re: Engagement Party Invites
My E-Party is in August.. and originally supposed to be 40-50 people... were now at close to 90 and I only wanted about 100-110 at my wedding.
It was supposed to be immediate family, no cousins and the BP.. however due to inconsiderate people its now inclusive of almost every person we're inviting to our wedding
Sorry I turned your question into a mini vent! I'd say just invite the closest people to you and your FH.

Our RH was limited by size...so we had the immediate family and BP only.

haha I have a very similar situation going on.
I originally wanted to invite family and close friends, but it looks like we are going to be inviting pretty much everyone that's coming to the wedding....a little annoying but let's just leave it at that!
We are having a big BBQ so I guess it is OK!

Re: Engagement Party Invites
We had 88 people. Grandparents, Aunts, uncles, and BP a must. Then I invited 6 friends not in my BP + their dates, and FH invited about 7 friends not in BP + their dates. My parents also had a table with 10-12 of their friends, but they hosted the party so I had no problem with that.

Re: Engagement Party Invites
Anyone, please stop me if I'm rambling. I'm having trouble trying to decide who to invite to our engagement party. We are having an engagement/housewarming in about 6 weeks and family alone is roughly 100. Any chance of having 2 shifts or is that outrageous/insulting? I figured I can invite older people earlier at noon and i'm sure people only want to stay a few hours and then have a 2nd shift around 5. Crazy idea or maybe 2 separate days...?
