Engagement Party Present

What's an appropriate amount to give for an engagement party? I have no idea... they are having it at a hall, with a DJ- but not formal seating. I really have no idea. can anyone help :)

I gave my friend $200 for her e-party at a hall, but we're very close. I would say no less than $150

We gave my DHs childhood friend $100.00 for their engagement party.

Depends on how close you are. I say anywhere from 75 to 150.

i was in the wedding party i gave about 200. If not i would give about 100

Just had our engagement party and we got everything from 30 dollars to 250 dollars for couples. I would say 100 seemed to be the average price for couples.

Just had an engagement party. The average is $150-200. I think anything under $150 is kinda low if you are going with a guest. You have to think most halls charge $75/80 per person & up. So you need to at least cover your plate(s).

This is all really helpful! I don't want to be cheap, but I still am going to get her a nice bridal shower and wedding present.

At my own wedding, I got as little as $50 per couple, and a few people didn't even give a gift! It was nuts.

To go completelty out of left field here, I honestly have never heard of having a full out engagement party where money was expected until I moved to New York. We didn't have one. I told FH not to expect huge checks from my side of the family, I had also never heard of covering your plate until moving here, Not that I'm saying I agree, its just some people don't know !
