Engagement Party Question....

Engagement Party Question....

My FH is from Long Island but I'm not from NY and have never been to an engagement party. We are having one at a hall with a DJ and stuff. My question is what do I wear? I plan to wear a dress but how fancy should it be? Do my friends attending from out of state need to wear dresses too? What is the usual dress for an engagement party? I do not want to be over dressed or under dressed. Thanks!

I think it depends on the location. I've been to e-parties that are fancier than my wedding will be so I got more dressed up====but I've also been to some that are much more informal.

I say no matter what it can't hurt for you to be fancier then everyone else. You can set the tone...when your friends ask you you can tell them what to wear? I would say if it's at a place with a DJ then a dress would be nice......I'm not from LI either so my family from PA was rather confused with the whole engagment party idea...good luck! it takes some time for them to get used to! but once you get presents you'll like it! i know i did!

I wore black...pics in my album. It was short black and puffed out at the bottom!!!! I loved it I would dye it white and wear it to my reception if i could!
