No, it's generally not done at e-parties
A lot of people give cash so it's kind of weird to do.

Re: Engagement Party question
I would say no but that is b/c we told people no gifts and didn't register for the eparty...people showed up with envelopes anyway.

Re: Engagement Party question
ok thats what i thought...i mean ive never been to an engagement party before so wasnt sure whats customary...my only thing is that my mother is buying us our entire china set, and i wanted to 'let eveyone know' because i think it would be nice to call that out bc its such an enormous gift! any ideas on how you would do that? should i just announce it maybe at the same time we thank his parents for throwing us the party, and then thank my mom for the china? idk dont wanna come off tacky!

Re: Engagement Party question
I did not open presents at my e-party. We got mostly money and we had a card box but the few item presents we had we did not open.

Re: Engagement Party question
I didn't. People honestly don't like watching and gifts are supposed to be optional. I got a lot of cash gifts at mine and I am really glad that I didn't open gifts for that reason. It was kind of fun for FH and I to have a glass of wine and open gifts with no audience

Re: Engagement Party question
we're not opening at the party, but the next day my parents are have the future in laws/grandparents over for brunch to see what me and my fiance get (if we get anything to open). This way no one feels left out who cares :)

Re: Engagement Party question
Thanks so much girls! I ve decided that we will just thank his parents for throwing us the party, my mom for the china, everyone for coming and gifts. Then we will have our parents over the next day as one of the girls said to open the presents! Thanks for your advice!!
