ENGAGEMENT PARTY SNUB!

ENGAGEMENT PARTY SNUB!

A distant cousin of mine recently got engaged. Although we are third cousins, our families were always close growing up and we saw each other often. In the last year or so, we haven't seen each other as often, but our families still remained in contact. Three weeks ago, he got engaged and we learned that 100 people were invited over to the house to celebrate the engagement (my family was not). Later that week, we heard through the grapevine that we weren't invited because they only wanted FAMILY there?! What da?!

A few days ago, we received an invitation to their 'official' engagement party and my family has declined. Do you think it would be petty of me to boycott this wedding?

It almost sound like something my family went through...I know its not easy when spending money for things like that..but to me, your family member should know the kind of relationship you have and should consider that....I could never do that....A lot of times the ususally the bride or groom doesnt want to cause problems with their in laws or whomever is paying for the party....thats why we paid and are paying for everything ourselves....My suggestions is to see how it goes....as for my family member that did that...THEY NEVER GOT MARRIED

Only if you wouldn't mind if they boycotted yours....

I am bnot saying I wouldn't have been upset, I sure would have and I know it's hard to bite your lip and grin, but with family sometimes it's easier to just let things go.
If you wouldn't care if they didn't come to yours, then that's one thing.....but if you start this and then it turns into something bigger, you'll have to live with it.

If there was already 100 people, was your family really gonna make a big difference? Boycott the wedding, I guess its a judgment call. I think I'd be a little upset too, but maybe it got misconstrued 'through the grapevine' and it wasn't 100 people? I dunno. If you're that hurt by it then maybe you shouldn't be a part of it.

Well, to be honest, I truly wouldn't mind if they didn't come to mine...they are like 'toxic family', you know what I mean?

I just feel like they only invited us to THIS engagement party because we need to hand over an envelope....

((sigh))..I HATE grinning and bearing it!

BOYCOTT!!

I am boycotting my family. My cousin Summer who got engaged last year had an e-party and invited the entire family EXCEPT my parents and I. Her father and my mother who are siblings are at war with each other so she didnt invite my parents or I to her e-party and we're not invited to her wedding.

SO she and her parents are not invited to anything of mine. Though I do feel like inviting JUST her sister just to be a B!TCH. But I am not inviting any of them. Dont want them and they are dead to me.

So in my book BOYCOTT!!!

Oh man..I KNOW how you feel!!

Ain't it the truth when they say, you can pick your friends but NOT your family!

In that case, if you don't care if they don't come to yours....by all means, do you what you feel.

If you feel they only invited you to get an 'envelope' then I wouldn't want to go either!
