Engagement party troubles

Engagement party troubles

So I booked my engagement party for August 15th of this year. I did not ask FMIL because I just figured she was available...turns out she has a wedding....and is available the rest of August...go figure. So I called the place to see if I could change the date. The only other time that would work for everyone is October 9th. Now I am getting married August 15th 2009. Is having the engagement party 10 months before my wedding tacky??? Or is this ok? Thanks

I am getting married in April of 2009 and my engagement party is on June 14th which is 10 months away from the big day. At first, I felt it was tacky but then people were excited for us and told us not to worry so it feels alright now!

I think it's totally fine, we're doing it. wedding is in May 09 and e-party is this july

No.. you're fine. I'm doing the same. My E-party will be July 12th and my wedding date is June 6 2009.

NOT a problem. Years ago, engagements were weeks, even months. My friend recently got engaged in December 06 and married in May 07. Her e-party was small, but hey, everyone wants to see you get married soon!!!

10 months is plenty of time. I was actually worried about having one because it would be LONGER than a year!!
