Not sure if i want my e ngagement party as a bbq in my backyard or at a restaurant. Definitely do not want a 'min wedding' just something casual.
Any ideas of restaurants (buffet, not expensive, and casual) or is home bbq better?
Thanks!

I am doing a brunch at Captain bills in bay shore. not sure where you are located, if that will be too far, but their prices are reasonable. you can do buffets as restaurants too.. we were looking into that also.

I'm having mine at Dao in Huntington. Asian Fusion restaurant that is beautiful and has a back room for private parties. We are paying $22 pp I think for a three course meal, unlimited soft drinks, but cash bar (party is 3 hours long). You could probably have about 50 people there.

Personally I think back yard parties are FAB!! Everyone is comfortable and relaxed. If you are worried about clean up there are companies that hire out wait staff.
If you don't want to wait for summer what about a KoC of VFW?

Go for the backyard party!!
That's what I wanted when I thought I was getting engaged over the summer, but FH waited till December so I have to have it inside now (it's this month).. Still happy, but the BBQ idea is so great and fun.. I've been to a few

If you know someone who is a FD member you can use one of the firehouse private rooms. That is what we did and it was awesome! We had it catered, I decorated, a DJ and it was very affordable.
