we did not register and we got all money. I think we only recieved about 5 gifts. I agree i think gifts are for showers, but i told who ever asked that we did not register but they were more than welcome to get us a gift if they liked.

Plus IMO i didnt want to be opening gifts at my e-party - it was to have fun and celebrate!

We registered but ony for china and chrystal for our engagement party. Unfortunately, we didn't send out cards with the invitations so we did get quite a few gifts off the regsitry. I would definitely register and let people know about it but not for everything. Most people do usually give money.

We had a small party (around 30 ppl). My mother and FIL wanted to keep inviting people and I put my foot down and said no b/c it was going to be too many people.

We did register before the party. Some people gave us gifts and some gave money.

Do the little stuff...like kitchen gadgets, towels, vases, glasses.

I think it is a god idea to register for some things that way you give your guests and option as to if they want to get you a gift or money. Good luck!!

You can register for everything now. We got mostly $ and HM registry, but we got out luggage, grind and brew coffee maker, blender, gift cards. oh, and all our dishes from FHs aunt, uncle and grandma.

We didnt get any towels or bedding. I think people see that stuff as more showery.

I woulrd defintely register. You can get some scary stuff whe people dont know what to get you and dont want to just give cash. At least by registering, you will get stuff you like.

i would definetly NOT register (and if u do do NOT put the cards in ur invites)....a big part of an engagement party is to get mula towards ur wedding. It helped us out TREMENDOUSLY. Also, we too had immediate family & bridal party only. I'd talk to ur FMIL and explain. We did this too...believe it or not I had a hard time because my family is so huge...but we stuck to it & it ended up being really nice - and nobody had hurt feelings because it REALLY was just immediate family & bridal party. but as for registering - u can register , but definetly do not put registry cards in the invites...they're for the shower!! We were registered but didn't put cards in the invites - we only got about 3 or 4 gifts(that honestly weren't even on the registry) and we were really happy to have the extra cash...used for deposits towards our vendors.

we didn't register and we got all money! which was good since we're paying for own wedding. just tell her that you think its tacky/poor etiqutte to incl. registry cards in the invites.
