Engagement Photo locations

Hey Ladies,

Are you taking engagement photos? If so where... I've been thinking for awhile where we'd like to take ours but since we will be taking them in March that makes outdoor locations tough...Any suggestions?!

Engagement Photo locations - Long Island Weddings

We are taking engagement photos but only because it was included in our photo package. Otherwise we weren't going to. I don't know when or where we will do it though... You may get lucky with a nice day in March to take them outdoors...indoor locations may be tough. My friend had hers done at a music studio-their theme is vintage music....I don't think there are too many places they will allow you to take pictures indoors unfortunately... I remember reading on one of the other boards other brides asking the same question. I can't seem to find it though.

we went on a cruise 2 months after we got engaged so we took a few photos on the cruise. i other wise wanted to save money and wasn't going to take any. I am however having taking alot of std photos. pintrest gave me ALOT of ideas but I'm having a friend take them. again to save money. I'm trying to look into the rzk plaza or whatever it's called now ( the old eab plaza in Uniondale) they have such a nice indoor space and since I want to try to get std out just after our one year mark it's gonna still be old out side so we need an indoor space and there isn't very many places indoors as far asi know.

We just took our engagement pics on Monday! We only did if because they threw it in our photo package for us. We did half the pictures at Grand Central Station and then walked a couple blocks to Bryant Park. So half indoor, half outdoor. I am trying to think of indoor places to suggest but am drawing a big blank. Hopefully as long as there's no rain or snow you could do outdoor in March. I mean it was almost 40 degrees last week and it's supposed to be close to 40 or above Sunday and Monday so ya never know it might be spring like temperatures by March!

We did our first photos last summer at Shinnecock beach in Southampton - my aunt did them (she does photography as a hobby), then we had a freelance girl do a more 'winter' theme for our STD's the weekend after Thanksgiving. We went to the Quogue Wildlife Refuge and there were a ton of places to get good pictures.

Planting Fields
(both out doors though...)

I am going to check out some of the places you guys suggested! Thanks again for the advice!! If you guys happen to think of anymore places please let me know!! :)

If you decide outdoors, the bayard cutting arboretum in great river is nice. A bunch of hidden little spots

What about the Vanderbilt Museum & Mansion in Centerport? They hold weddings there, so I'm sure it's nice and there must be someplace indoors to take photos. Not sure if there would be a fee though. And I agree with Amanda above, Bayard Cutting Arborteum is great if you decide outdoors!

Thanks for both suggestions!!I don't mind paying a site fee as long as I get good pictures. I'm gunna look into them right now! I am so excited!!

We did ours at Montauk point. We took most of them at the lighthouse and then we did our color bomb shoot at the overlook where we got engaged. We did it the last day of September... which the week before was cool and stuff... and then it was like almost 90 degrees the day we went... but we still dressed for fall.. lol

Thanks for all the idea ladies!! Still haven't decided where to go yet but I booked our engagement photo shoot for either the 1st or 2nd week of March!! They have to get back to me with the FINAL date, but I am super excited!!

I think Im going to do mine in DUMBO. I live near there but i really like the idea of having so many different options as a backdrop. You can do near the carousel, field with NYC skyline, on the brooklyn bridge or on the streets in dumbo its all cobblestone and i love that.

I feel silly for asking, but what's Dumbo? I probably should know lol but the only Dumbo i know is the Elephant from Disney lol

LOL!!! awe my bad.. its the west most point of brooklyn where the brooklyn and manhattan bridge are. It stands for Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass
