Engagement photos - What to Wear

What are you supposed to wear to an engagement photo shoot? Casual and jeans or a dress? What have you girls done?

Thanks!

It depends on what sort of look you're going for and where you're having the photos taken. We took our photos at Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan, and there were a lot of trees, bushes and colorful flowers for background. So our photographer suggested that we don't wear dark colors, especially browns and greens because we'd blend in with the scenery. He also suggested that FH and I wear colors in the same tonal family, that way it's easier to do color correction if we both wore pastels or brights, etc.

We decided to do a dressy casual look, so I wore a simple skirt and top, and FH wore a simple shirt and slacks...check out the photos in my album to see the colors and overall look.

In the end, wear what you feel comfortable wearing! Good luck and enjoy the engagement photo session...we had a blast at ours!

I've seen pics with all different levels of dressiness. I think wear something dressy enough that you feel like you look great but casual enough that you're really comfortable too.

I agree that the colors really depend on your backdrop. We wore white because we knew there would be a lot of dark colors in our graffiti backdrop.

Do you know where you're going yet?

Our photographer told us to dress they way we would for a weekend evening out. Not super dressy, but put together and very 'You.' We both wore nice jeans and dressy tops. He wore a blazer too.
