We have our e-pics scheduled with JayLim on 6/3. I still have no clue where I want to do them. I originally thought Coney Island because I wanted different & funky BUT FH works down their and said they are still recovering from sandy so that doesn't work.
I really don't want park/beach/scenic photos. I am looking for something more funky/bright/urban. I'd rather not travel into Manhattan but I am open to the idea.
Where should we go?

definitely ask them! I'm taking mine at the end of June and asked for a location with a park type feel and a bridge. They suggested Francis Lewis Park... FH and I went there this past weekend and it is perfect! There is a whole playground with a water feature too and we are thinking of ending it jumping around in the water!
I would ask them... I feel like he has been to places like you are describing!
This is a little out there... but what about the abandoned section of pilgrim state? The buildings are incredible and have some of the most amazing graffiti I've ever seen. Theres especially this one tag thats been all around thats a really cool way to have the word LOVE written. Its a heart and the V acts like the point of the heart. I keep meaning to take a photo of it but I'm always driving.

Yes Dumbo!! The cobblestone streets, brick walls, Iron gates, the carousel, backgrounds of both the manhattan and brooklyn bridge...beautiful place for photos!

Coney Island is a great idea, I was considering it as well. My other choices were Dumbo, Highline, or Hudson River Park.. Along with the gorgeous flowers, there's a lot of cool graffiti that's visible as you walk down the High Line, so I feel it's a nice blend of urban and scenic. FH suggested Union Square/ Flatiron district for a more casual approach.

Brooklyn Heights! It's right next to DUMBO but the neighborhood is even prettier. There is the promenade with the Manhattan skyline. Plus you can walk to the carousel!

I'm going thru this right now too. Ours were originally in April but I've been so busy that I completely forgot about them! We're resched for the end of June and we're thinking about Central Park...Dumbo is a great idea too! I've seen a lot of pics there and definitely think yours would come out beautiful! Just make sure your photographer doesn't charge a huge travel fee first

I was also going to suggest DUMBO. This is a shoot our photographer did there. She did a few but I think this one is exactly what you described.
