Hi. Our shoot is scheduled for next month. I'm looking for an ideal location. I was looking into Old Westbury Gardens but I defin don't want to pay the permit fee. Any ideas on a great place thats free to take outdoor pictures with lots of great photo ops? Thanks.

We took ours in Central Park and it was great! If you want to stay on Long Island then I know lots of girls on here love Argyle Park. HTH!

I am actually going to take my engagement photos at Old Westbury Gardens on Thursday. I did pay the fee but after going to visit the place this past Sunday on Mother's Day, I feel that it is going to be worth every penny! The flowers were in perfect bloom and there were SOOO many different photo opportunities! I felt like it was my dream location of what I always envisioned! I will definitely put the pics on page when I get them back so you can judge. Another place that wasn't free but was cheaper was Planting Fields in Oyster Bay. If you want free locations I feel like Central Park may be the best location for diversity of backgrounds

Centennial Gardens in Floral Park is free- It's beautiful inside too and has pretty gates, a bridge in there, and tons and tons of garden areas to take pics

Crashing! You need a permit for Central Park. I wanted to do mine there and my photographer told me you need to get a permit and it could be a pain to do it. He said that some photographers do it without a permit but you take the risk of being kicked out. Just thought I would let you know.

My FH proposed there and hired a photographer to take pics in the bushed of the proposal. We then took pics for like an hour and half all over central park and they didn't say anything. I wouldn't worry about getting kicked out because there are couples EVERYWHERE getting pics done. I would be more worried about it being crowded with people than about the permit issue.

Thanks for the info. Reason we want to go there was because we thought we didn't need a permit. Will defin check with my photog first. We are going on a Monday so shouldn't be too crowded.

Interesting. My FH also proposed there also, that is why we wanted our engagement pics to be done there but we didn't want to take the chance of getting kicked out.
