Engagement Pic Frustration

We're trying to schedule our engagement shoot and we're having a tough time. While we haven't determined definitively where we want to do them, the bigger problem is finding a time. Our photographer is fully booked every weekend until December!! This is a crazy time for me at work, so I don't see how a weekday is possible. I just don't know what to do.

Anybody else run into scheduling issues? What did you do? Any advice?

TIA!

Engagement Pic Frustration

We were told to pick a day during the week because the photographer is busy with weddings during the weekend. We worked half a day and had our e-shoot at 4.

Re: Engagement Pic Frustration

I have a circulatory issue that makes cold weather downright painful for me. I get pins and needles and then lose feeling in my fingers and toes. I don't want the pictures to register that pain, and it's almost guaranteed in December, or even after dark in October/November.

Plus, I really wanted the Fall foliage for our pix, since I can't have it for our wedding...

Is your engagement pics part of your package? If it isnt can you get them done by another photographer?

Re: Engagement Pic Frustration

there are a few holidays coming up, and they only take about an hour (without travel time) so maybe you can schedule it on that monday...

what about on your lunch break or something too?
(i know that might be tight but maybe you can come in a little early and leave a little late to get some extra time

Re: Engagement Pic Frustration

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Veteran's Day is a little late in the season, even, but that's what I had proposed. Photographer isn't available then.

It IS part of our package, so I can't afford to pay somebody else to do it.

We're both teachers, so we're expected to attend conferences on Election Day, and I get less than half an hour for lunch, so unfortunately that's not an option. Nor is coming late/leaving early because of the substitute situation and the fact that the locations we liked are all quite a distance away...

If anybody has any other thoughts, please keep them coming. I'm so upset...

See if your photographer will deduct the cost of the e-shoot from your contact since you are having scheduling conflicts.

I agree...if it is that much of an impossibility and you absolutely cannot take even 1 day off THEN NEGOTIATE and see if you can get someone else to do your e-shoot.

Just keep in mind photographers book up their schedule pretty quickly.

CHIN UP!

Engagement Pic Frustration

Since taking the pix now is impossible and you want fall foliage, maybe you should do a 'trash the dress' shoot next fall? I'm sure you could find a beautiful indoor space to take your epix sometime in the next few months!

Re: Engagement Pic Frustration

What about doing something indoors? Since you are both teachers, maybe ask the school if you could do your e-shoot in one of the classrooms or maybe even the library. It could be really cute and it would give yours pics a more personal touch! If the school won't allow it then maybe ask one of the public libraries.

Engagement Pic Frustration

is there another photographer with the company that can do the epic session for you? i know you wouldn't get a chance to see how you interact with your day of photographer, but it may at least give you some great epics
