WHEN DO YOU TAKE YOUR ENGAGEMENT PICS??? RIGHT AWAY OR WHAT??? I DREAD TAKING THEM, MY FSIL PICS FOR HER WEDDING-- THE PHOTOGRAPHER KEPT SAYING I LOOKED MAD... AND I TRIED TO SMILE AND I ENDED UP LOOKING SCARED IN ALL THE PICS... HOW HORRIBLE ...

Your photographer should be telling you when you should take them. You can really take them whenever you want. But you want to give enough time to get the pics back in case you want to use them at any fuctions....Display them at your wedding etc...

We took ours just recently.
Although we aren't getting married for another year + 3 months, we didn't have an E-party and we wanted to do something to celebrate our engagement. We also wanted to be able to order some to give as Christmas gifts this year (my grandfather lives out of state and would love it!)

We took ours 6 months after we got engaged so about 2 years before the wedding.

I plan on taking my first set around December and the second hopefully sometime next summer (if Navy cooperates that is). Patken is giving us 2 engagement shoots.

Did you choose your photographer yet?
I am using Duet and I love the pictures I took with them. People tell me that we look nautral and relaxed in the pictures but in reality I was a bit nervous and I was also sick. That said I am VERY happy with Duet and my pictures! If you want to see them, here are my pictures. . I just took them in May (4 months before the wedding) and we had a 2 year engagement. If I had to do it again I would take the pictures earlier, like a year in advance. Then you can use the pictures for all sorts of things such as on save-the-date cards, programs, invitations, stuff for e-party, etc. I made a guestbook using mine too!
