Hi Everyone! I'm recently engaged (1 week ago!) and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on when to have engagement pictures taken. I will most likely have an engagement party 3 months from now but wasn't sure if I should have pictures done before the party? I really want to use them for my STDs, which won't be sent out for another year or so.
Thoughts? When are you taking yours?

Right now my plan (weather permitting and FI permitting - he might have work) is to take my pics on Oct. 3rd. One of my close friends is trying to start up a photography business and is looking to expand her portfolio so she offered to them for us which is awesome!
We already had our engagement 'party' (it was just us getting drunk at the bar ) but that would be a nice way to display them.
I am planning on using them in the STDs and for our Guestbook.

Congrats on your recent engagement!!
FH and I aren't doing engagement pics...but just to let you know a lot of photography companies throw in engagement photos into your wedding photography package. Engagement photos aren't included in mine but a lot of companies do this.
I don't think there is a specific time you need to have them done by unless you want to display them at your engagement party or use them for save the dates. HTH!

I am not help to you- I cant think of anywhere so I might ask the owner of my company if I can use his house. He lives on the beach in Sands Point.

hey i just got engaged over a month ago.... I got my engagement pictures last week done. I am going to have an engagement party soon....we used ******** Photography... u can see some of my pictures if you are interested... we are going to use the engagement pictures as an invite. We did this one at a beach. For our save the dates for the wedding we are going to go to the city....they were awesome though...we did it with dean and he was so creative and i never felt so comfortable and so did my fiance(which is very strange for him) ....my fiance was even getting into the pictures! u can message me with any questions

I think that's a great idea! Do it as soon as you want! If we were having an E-Party I would have wanted to do the same thing. We're taking ours Monday actually for our STD's

I think you can take your pictures anytime you want. The only thing i would wait for is for you to book your photographer becasue many times they throw it in for free. We are taking ours Oct 2 in either DUMBO in brooklyn or in the city.

yes definitely wait because I was going to make my own from a pic I had & then the E-Pics & STD's were included in our package!

I also think you can take them whenever you want to. FH and I are taking them this December (it's included in our Photo Package and so are STDs) and then send our STDs out with the photo in Jan , a year prior to the wedding.

First CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!!!!
What me and my FH did was had photos taken at Picture People. We used those photos for our engagement party and thank yous.
We are leaning towards DUET for photography and one of their packages include engagement pictures also. Those pictures we will use for out STD, etc...
