Ok So my Fiancee' and I have decided not to have an engagement party, however people are asking us if we are registered anywhere. I was planning just to register for my shower, but should we register early even though we aren't even having a party????
YES!!! My fiance and I didnt have an engagment party! What we did was send out engagement announcements. You dont need to do that but you should totally register! You can always add or delete items but ppl that are close to you are going to want to get you a gift so at least let it be something that you want!!!!
I would start a small registry or you will end up with 40 thousand picture frames and champagne flutes! If you really prefer cash, you can tell your mom, so if someone asks her, she can tactfully say that even though they registered, they'd prefer to build up their wedding account at this point.
We def. are going to send out announcements. Did you put a registration card with the announcements???? or did people just ask you where you were registered??? I would feel weird putting those in with announcements. I don't want people to feel obligated about getting us a gift!

I actually just read somewhere that it is not good etiquette (who decides these rules anyway?) to put registry info anywhere in print before the shower time. Instead it should only be given word of mouth, if people ask. Register, it's so fun!! Don't go nuts, you can just put some of the essentials now and add later.
You can start it sometimes people like to get you a gift for your engagement even if you are not having a party. At least if you register you will get something you want/need!

Yes, I agree. We got engaged in March and we had a ton of people asking us if we registered yet. We registered in June and already received a few gifts. There are going to be ones close to you who will want to give you a gift even though you are not having an engagement party.
