Only asking because FH younger sister got engaged 8/08 and she hasn't cleaned it once.
When I got my ring resized I was told to clean it once a week(not by the jeweler) and to have the setting checked twice a year.
I do it once a week. Do you think that's an overkill?
FH spent time and money getting me this ring and I want to take GREAT care of it

Re: Engagement Ring
i got my ring in march. my friends mom cleaned it in july & then again in november. i wash my hands with it on so it does get a little soap & water on a regular basis. i am afraid to clean it on my own so i am planning on going to tiffanys to get it cleaned one day.

Re: Engagement Ring
I was cleaning it every night. Now down to about once a week or if before I am going out or to dinner or something like that. Come to think of it - it desparately needs a cleaning right now!

Re: Engagement Ring
ughh now I am looking it at mine like ewwwwwww hahah. But FH got the service and warranty so I can get it cleaned once every six months which is nice. I like to clean it by myself one every 2 weeks but as said if I am going somewhere I will give it an extra cleaning! btw when your fsil gets her ring cleaned its going to be so birght and shinny compared to what it looks like now!

Re: Engagement Ring
I got engaged 12/07 and had it cleaned once...it was so sparkly after I had it cleaned. I want it cleaned again but I hate parting with it.

Re: Engagement Ring
I was told by a friend who is a jeweler that the best way to clean jewelry is actually by using Palmolive (yes, dish soap) and a toothbrush. I have done it a few times and it works quite well. I also sometimes use the jewelry cleaner from the jar that you can buy at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Re: Engagement Ring
I got mine exactly one year ago. I had it cleaned when it was resized, but other than that I don't clean it. I do wash my hands with it, so it gets all soapy. Does that count? LOL. I think I'll get the cleaner from walmart. Can someone link me to it?

Re: Engagement Ring
My SIL bought me the Conair® Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner for my birthday. It works really well. I've only used it twice but it make my ring super sparkly like the first day i had it.

I thought mine looked great last night when I got home from work. Then i realized it had been a week since I cleaned it. I let it soak in warm water with this diamond soap i got then brushed it with a very soft brush. wiped it with a non lint cloth. mad did that baby sparkle
god i love my ring
