Re: engagement ring insurance help??
I went through JewelersMutual.com. It was less expensive than adding it to my renters insurance and it covers more. Definitely price it out through both. HTH

I got mine through Travelers Insurance. Its about $100 a year and covers everything (loss of ring, loss of diamond etc) for up to a $15,000 ring. It's based on what your ring was appraised for.

This is what FH did. He insured it before we got engaged since he was bringing it overseas. HTH!

I went to my car insurance company (Geico) and got it packaged with my car insurance. They get the ring insurance through Travelers. Depends on how much the ring is appraised for.

I had a rider added to my renters insurance that I have through Allstate. You will pay more $ if you insure it for the the appraised amount, and since I only want to replace it god forbid, I only insured it for the replacement amount.

This. I was told by a few people that if you add it to your renters, and you move, and something happens to your ring while your policy is being moved from house to house then it's not covered.

Also I believe if its covered under owner's or renter's insurance this only covers if something happens to it within your home. I don't believe you're covered if it's lost or stolen in the street.

FH went through jeweler's mutual. Our jeweler actually handled everything and the ring was insured before FH left the store with it.
