I have to get my ring made smaller. Does any one have a good jeweler that they could recommend.
And do most of you have your rings insured?

Re: Engagement Ring Question
My ring is not insured yet. When we buy a home we will insure it under the home owners insurance (that is the plan)
I got my ring size changed at the South Shore Mall. There is a booth by the JC Penney. It was 16 bucks but he did it in my face, in 4 minutes

Re: Engagement Ring Question
Wow- I was quoted $50 at a small place in St. James. That is a great suggestion! And I like that they do it right in front of you - I'm really paranoid after watching those news shows where they switch your diamond for a fake one
thanks!

Re: Engagement Ring Question
What about wherever he got it? I had to have mine made smaller but they did it for free where my FI bought it. They have actually sized it down twice now, because I am a ring size 3 1/2 and the jeweler never believes it and doesn't want to make it too small!

Re: Engagement Ring Question
I have my engagement ring insured. I'd be so paranoid if I didn't both because e-rings are expensive and it's a family heirloom. I've had my ring both resized and restored and I would not go anywhere but Estate Jewels in Huntington. They do not do the resizing in front of you, but I've sent my ring to them twice and they are very reputable.

Re: Engagement Ring Question
It just got insured last week, I never wore it before it was insured. The ring cost more than my current car. AHHH!! Priorities, priorities!

Re: Engagement Ring Question
My ring is insured - it's the first thing I did after we got engaged!
I got my ring sized and Christian Bernanrd in Roosevelt Field. I don't remember how much it cost - maybe $15?

Re: Engagement Ring Question
I had my ring sized from the jeweler it came from and it's insured under our home owners insurance. I don't mean this in any kind of rude way, but ring's should only be insured if they're worth a decent amount, because what you pay in insurance over a couple of years, may not be much less than it would cost to replace the ring.

I forgot to mention that the insurance is ridiculous. We have it under our renter's insurance and it is the only thing we could afford to insure. We used Allstate.

Re: Engagement Ring Question
Can ou do it where FH got it?
Yes, mine is insured. It cost almost $400 a year, which is so ridiculous, but t really gives me peace of mind and although it adds up, it's nothing compared to the cost of replacing the ring.

Re: Engagement Ring Question
My FH made me insure the first week that I got it! I just got my ring made smaller I brought it back to the jewler that we bought from and he made the adjustments free of charge. Make sure you check it when you get it back and that they make sure the stones aren't loose.
