Engagement Ring Question (Trillion side stones)

Engagement Ring Question (Trillion side stones)

Does anyone here have trillion (triangle shaped) side stones on their engagement rings?
I do, I love them but lately they are frustrating me. My jeweler has told me that they are the hardest shaped stone to keep clean. Therefore I feel as though they never look as clear as they truly are. Also, I'm beginning to shop for wedding bands, and I am having a hard time finding any bands that will fit flush next to my ring because of the trillions. I was just curious if anyone else out there has ever had this problem?
My fiance has said that he is 100% ok with it if I want to get rid of the trillions and change my band. I would like to but I also feel kind of sad thinking about changing the band of my engagement ring.
Any advice out there?

Thanks Girls!

I have trillions and I would NEVER take them off. I keep mine clean by cleaning my ring once a week with Connoseur's (the stuff in the red jar).

I had the same issue with wedding bands so I'm having mine custom made by Elsa. I highly recommend them....they're fabulous and my ring is actually costing less than it would from a store like Fortunoff

Hi,

I have a square radiant in the center and two trillions on the sides. I thought that in the beginning but i clean my ring twice a week with a toothbrush and dish soap, what a shine!!!

I had a really hard finding a band to sit and look right with the ring but i found one, it is one carat band with seven princess cut diamonds and the length of the band is equal to the length of the engagement ring, i love it..Good luck, try the dish soap, it is amazing,

Re: Engagement Ring Question (Trillion side stones)

My e-ring is a RB solitaire, but my right-hand-ring is a cushion cut blue topaz with peridot trillion side stones. I don't know if it's the shape of the stone, the cut, or the stone itself (non-diamond) but I don't think my ring is very sparkly. The trillions are set at an angle on my ring (so they face out to the side a little rather than upward) so that could contribute to it. Plus, I play with the ring and touch the stones and dont clean it as much as I should.

I don't think the shape is a problem though, unless you have a very thin band. You can always go for something custom made, or have a small gap between the two.

I don't know what I'm going to do with my band. I have a very low-set solitaire (I preferred a more rounded setting rather than a tall angular setting) and it's a 6 prong, so I'll probably have a gap next to my wedding band unless I get a curved ring.

Thanks for your input ladies. I'm going to try the dish soap twice a week.
I've even been looking into getting a steamer for my home so that I can get that super shine but they are really pricey.

i know this sounds crazy but if you have a cappucino machine the steam also works but im all the way for dish soap i promise you will be hooked.

I use the soap thing once a week with 2 squirts of Windex in the solution(I use a tea cup)--WORKS GREAT! I then steam it with this....such a great buy cause you can use it on almost all your jewelry---and your FH's Watch!

http://www.amazon.com/Samuels-Jewelers-Jewel-Jet-Steamer/dp/B0002LB2TK

If the link does not work its called the JEWEL JET-- I got it for $99 and it is WONDERFUL!!!!

Re: Engagement Ring Question (Trillion side stones)

I have a princess cut center stone with a trillion on each side. The jeweler told my FH the same thing about keeping them clean but I have to say I have had my ring since July and just this week noticed that it needed to be cleaned. The Jeweler recommended using Scotch to clean it.

As for the band I knew that the only way to get something that sat flush would be to have it custom made around the shape of my e-ring. I don't want that so I am just having custom made princess cut eternity band. I know it won't sit flush but I am ok with that.

Re: Engagement Ring Question (Trillion side stones)

I have trillions but they're sapphires and not diamonds so I'm not sure if that issue still applies. Although I do find that the sapphires don't really sparkle, even after I clean the ring, I don't know if this has somethign to do with the actual stone or because they are trillion side stones. I also have trouble finding a wedding band to match but I decided that I'll be moving my e-ring to my right hand and wearing my wedding band on my left.
