Re: Engagement Stories!!!!

I knew last summer was going to be the summer he was going to propose mainly cuz I kept pushing him but he had me believing he didnt have the $$ for a ring. We went to Disney World with my best friend and her boyfriend and for weeks before I would say how much a Disney World proposal meant to me and how it was always my dream.

The day before we left he had me convinced he hadnt bought my ring so I was past it. Until that night he came to sleep over so we could leave from my house to catch the flight I saw something square shaped in his pocket. I thought it was the ring but I was like no way and just figured it was his camera.

The whole first few days of the trip I was tempted to go through his luggage to see if I saw a ring but I convinced myself not to because I wanted to be suprised. Our 4th day of the trip we went to Magic Kingdom and during the fireworks he proposed. He didnt get down on one knee but it was still sweet. I didnt cry I guess cuz I was TOO into the fireworks (I LOVE Disney World fireworks) but it was a sweet moment.

Later on he was telling me how my best friends boyfriend Rich was hiding the ring from me all day. A few times that day I had tried going into Rich's backpack to get water and he would flip out and refuse to let me touch his bag. I didnt catch on at all. I thought he was just being neurotic cuz hes weird like that. Also when we were lined up on the curb waiting for the parade Rich left with my bestfriend for the giftshop and left his bag behind I told him I would keep it next to me and watch it but he made sure to leave it next to FH instead. Again I thought he was being neurotic. I cant believe I never caught on the whole day.

Well thats my story and I typed too much lol.

Re: Engagement Stories!!!!

I also knew I would be getting engaged this year. I kept pushing him as well. I mean, I was going to be 27, and hes 31... what the heck are ya waiting for? I kept telling him that anything he does thats out of the ordinary I am going to know, because I'm expecting it. I really thought he was going to do it Labor Day weekend in Ocean City, because thats where he first told me he loved me.

So the weekend before Labor Day hes like I'm taking off Saturday, we'll go to Long Beach as our first last hooray to the summer. So I'm like great cool. So that Thursday he calls me up and hes like, oh one of the guys here works as a waiter at this place across from Montego Bay, so I was thinking we'll do lunch there, he'll give us a great discount, and then we'll go to the beach.

So we wake up Saturday and its raining, lol. So jokingly I say well atleast we'll find parking quickly. We get to the restaurant (ps. in front of Montego Bay and were we first me), and he goes to park in front of it so I get all 'YOU CAN'T PARK HERE, B*TCH B*TCH B*TCH, YOU'RE GONNA GET A TICKET OR TOWED, WAHWAHWAH.' So he parks across the street. But he said he really wanted to get me 'at the spot.' So miraculously, theres a stray dog, and I'm an animal lover, so I run across the street, the dog runs away, and he gets me there. So then he grabs my arm, turns me around, and gets on his knee, and says in the pouring rain, we met here and I couldn't of thought of a better place to propose!!!

We still joke that he hired some dude to 'que the dog' in case anything went wrong!! LOL. And there was no kid at the restaurant, so after I said yes, I included, I'm hungry when are we eating..

Re: Engagement Stories!!!!

I was engaged in Disney World too!!

...but not at the Magic Kingdom.

First...a little background, because I'm long winded like that.

I come from a long background of Disney Lovers, my grandma was there opening day in 1971, it was the first vacation I had ever been on as a child and I've had so many wonderful experiences with my family at Disney almost every year thereafter.

DH and I went on our first trip in 2004 with my family. He had only been there once so he was weary of what might be waiting for him. Long story short he loved it and I loved that he loved it (it makes my life waaaay eaiser tee-hee). So we went again in October 2005 with my sister and her boyfriend and we planned another trip for the same time in 2006 (we love the Food and Wine Festival!!) with whom we took my best friend Jenny and her boyfriend. Our trip was for 10 days. We had THE GREATEST time I've ever had in Disney World. It did not rain ONCE...not even a SINGLE DROP (which is odd) and there were no fights, no nothing but fun and drunkeness and lots 'o' FOOD!!!

I'm the type that gets very sad when I have to leave there....alot of my memories stem from there and I just get all meloncholy when it's time to say goodbye.

Cue FH.....

The very last day we were there we went to Epcot Center (my favorite place in all the World!!) and rode rides, drank a crapload of wine and went to dinner at a Japanease restaurant called Mitsokushi Teppanyaki in the Japan Pavillion of World Showcase.

(This part is a little blurry.....I had NO idea an engagement was coming even after 6 years together...I was just happy to be there with FH)

After dinner (and much food) we walked out of the restaurant ahead of our friends and I walked down to the bridge over the Koi pond and said (with my back to him) jokingly 'Hey you know Disney will let you get married RIGHT HERE!!' and I turn around and he's kneeling down....so me being stupid I rush over to him, kneel down and say 'Who are we hiding from?'....and he said 'No! GET UP' So I get up and he pulls out a little white box and I swear I friggin lost my head!!!!!

He said his piece to me (none of which I can remember unfortunetly) and slipped my ring on my finger and all I remember was looking around trying to grasp reality......Then Jenny comes over and says 'OH MY GOD DID YOU JUST DO WHAT I THINK YOU DID???' and starts snapping pictures like a wild woman while being pulled away by her boyfriend to give us some time alone.

Man....I just couldn't believe it, I thought I was going to have a heart attack and a stroke all at the same time....it just didn't seem real. All of the things I can remember about being in Disney World with my FH and with my family and everyhing just started to overwhelm me.....it was the single most emotionally instense experience of my life.

After that, we met out friends in the gift shop and drank ourselves stupid...

....nothing like a little diversion to get my mind off of having to leave to next day.

A few notes: FH told NO ONE about his plans to ask me because he thought even his mother would tell me...he wanted it to be 100% a suprise...mission accomplished dude, mission accomplished. The reason why he chose Japan is because that's my favorite place of course, i find the koi pond, the rock gardens and the foliage very soothing. Of course being a buddhist also helps along my enjoyment of it from a spiritual standpoint.

Originally, we were going to get married there on the very spot we were engaged but it wound up being too much of a problem for his side of the family and I didn't want to rob him of having certain family members present so we've only recently decided to have our wedding in NY.

And that's it.

Thanks :) ..... I've been to Disney once durring Christmas time. I don't know how much you do or do not like crowds but Christmas tends to be SUPER busy (u probably knew that)......however, if you go right after they put up the decorations but before the Official Christmas rush the crowd level is reletively low and it's FANTASTIC!!! I reccomend the first or second week of December.....but that's just me. :)

Re: Engagement Stories!!!!

It was a hot summer night, the night of July 26th, 2006. FH and I had gone out for a bit, but returned home quickly because of a little 'tiff' we had gotten into. Hey 'boys will be boys'. I was getting ready for bed when he called me saying he was at my door and he wanted me to come downstairs to meet him. I had no idea what was going to happen, no proposal crossed my mind, I just thought he was going to apologize to me. We walked down my block and he was talking to me and I can hear him getting choked up and to my surprise he takes out the ring, goes down on his one knee and asks me to MARRY HIM. I SAID YES OF COURSE, after being together for more than six years. At this point we were both 'balling'. It was as that moment that was amazing. It was so out of the blue, spur of the moment. It was just the two of us, not even aware of our surroundings; everything was non-existent at that moment. I had guests visiting us and my whole family was home. Mike and I went back home, everyone wondered what had happened to us. I showed them my ring and it was just pure excitement. My mom did not have champagne on-hand, so she whipped out the OUZO and we all had shots to celebrate. Mike was going to propose to me the next day at Central Park, but he said he couldn't wait. I didn't want hundreds of people gawking at us anyways. It couldn't have been better the way Mike proposed to me, on the street, my block where I grew up and where I used to play when I was little. When I move from there, I will never forget what happened on the night of July 26th, 2006.

That night was a special night because myself along with him and his extended family were celebrating his parents 28th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we took a limo to see the lion king in times square, afterwards, we went to Carmine's restaurant (I LOVE italian food!!)....I really wasn't expecting him to propose at all since we had gotten into a little tiff about him taking so long to propose during the intermission at the Lion King (Lol!) but next thing I know, he stands up to make an announcement before dinner and he get's down on one knee! It was hands down the best day of my life! Look at my avatar, it's a pic from that beautiful night!

I'm another Disney World proposal! (And here is FH thinking he did something unique! )

Last March we went down to Disney for a week. We got there Monday night and didnt do anything but go to sleep. The following morning he was really anxious to go to the Magic Kingdom. He had never been o Disney and I have so many times so it didnt matter to me which park we went to first. SO we're walking down main st and I asked him if we could stop at the bakery and get some breakfast. He was like 'No, lets just go see the castle.' So I was like 'You can see it from here why do we need to go closer right now? Cant we eat first?' He's like 'No lets just go see the castle first, I really want to see it.' Ok fine whatever. SO we walk up to the front of the castle and I got a little distracted because there were people lining up for the parade so I was just watching what was going on. When I turned around, FH was down on his knee with my ring in his hand. Obviously I said yes. Some lady even came up and was like 'Oh i saw the whole thing! Congratulations! I even took pictures!' Well, being the dumba$$es that we are, didnt even think to give her our address so she can send them to us. Thats the one thing that bothers me is knowing that someone out there has pictures of it and I would give anything to have them! Oh well!
