Re: engagements

we had an inside joke about him texting me will you marry me cuz we kind of made our 'dating' official via text.
we took a friend out to dinner for his bday and when i got home there was a trail of rose petals to the bedroom and propped up on the pillow was an open cell phone with 'will you marry me' typed on it. the ring was attached to the antena with fishing line

Re: engagements

He told me he wanted to do it in June one of those weekends but I was taking a summer class and he didn't want to distract me..so he waited until my class finished and that weekend he bought me a dance workshop, then he took me to see a show, the following morning he picked me up from the 2nd session of the dance workshop and took me to the bronx zoo, we walked and sat for a while and he kept telling me he loved me and told me that we were going to go into the butterfly garden last, once that happened and we walked into the butterfly garden as i was taking pictures of the butterflies my family and his family entered the place there was no one there but our families, it was awesome he was telling me how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me i was like WHAT THE F....holy sh!t! lol i started shaking and crying, that day i didn't even bother to dress up because it was totally unexpected it was the best he put the ring in my finger and said ' i didn't say yes yet!' lol he asked again and i said YES LOL

Re: engagements

one of our first date spots was the brooklyn bridge, however at the time we were not yet official as a couple. during that date i thought he would ask me to be his girlfriend officially, but he never did (he asked me 2 months later). Fast foward---he tells me he wants to eat brick oven pizza and that we should go to grimaldis in brooklyn and to the icecream factory, which i love...we go, eat, drink, and enjoy..then after we took a walk on the brooklyn bridge. while on the bridge, i was telling him how he should have officially asked me out to be his girlfriend the first time we went. then as we were leaving, he brings me to this garden area..takes a deep breath and im like 'whats the matter are you tired?' then he gets on one knee (im thinking he's about to tie his shoe) and says..I may not have asked you out on the bridge, but how many girls can say they got proposed to on the bk bridge..will you marry me?' then end

Re: engagements

FH had replaced my usual ring with my e-ring the night before. I was suppose to wake up in the morning and find it but I decided not to go to school that day since I wasn't feeling well. At around 11AM, he woke me up to go to the store, Strangely enough, I threw on sweat pants & a tee shirt & no jewelry (for the first time in 8 years). So off to the store we went. When we got back home I unpacked the groceries & joined him sitting on the couch. He said, “I have a surprise for you.” I said, “Why?” knowing our anniversary was 3 days away. So he told me to go look on my desk. I didn’t even notice it. Then I picked it up, put it on, and couldn’t believe it. Took it off for him to put on & then I said yes.

Long Story, Short Version:
Weeks before he made up this elaborate lie about going out to dinner with a colleague The night (Thurs) comes and we get ready and go, it is about 50 minutes away. We pull into the parking lot and I go to get out and he says 'wait'. I am said 'what?' He pulls out a red envelope and hands it to me. I read the card and he wrote: that I had to take off of work the next day, give up my cell phone, and not ask any questions. My first reaction: I can't take off work (I am a teacher and it was Sept...enough said!) but after he told me he packed everything I needed for the weekend I realized what was going on. He swept me away on a weekend long getaway to three of our most favorite vacation spots in the area. Throughout the weekend he gave me red cards to let me know what was happening next. Finally, on sat (yes he made me wait 3 days) over an indoor picnic on Block Island he proposed.
